Much of my recent photography studies have been through The Portrait System, which teaches both the skills of portraiture and the business of photography. Three times a year, photographers are invited to submit their portraits to the Portrait Masters Awards, where a panel of 5 internationally renowned photographers selected by The Portrait System judge and score images, then a final score is determined by an average of those five scores. Judging is based on a combination of the following criteria: expression, connection, styling, composition, posing, lighting, technique & presentation, post-production, focus, and narrative/emotive response. Images that receive a score of 70 or higher have met professional standards and receive either a bronze, bronze with distinction, silver or gold merit. I competed in the Portrait Masters Awards in September 2022.
I'm very proud to share that the four images that I entered into the September competition each received a bronze merit. Three were entered into the category for Children's Portraits, and one was entered into the category for Documentary Portraits. A huge thank you to my models, their families, and my boys for their support!
