Congratulations on welcoming the newest member of your family!
The initial weeks at home with your newborn can be a whirlwind, and now you might be considering a photographer to preserve these precious early moments. If you’re curious about what to expect from a New Hampshire newborn lifestyle photography session in your home, you’re in the right place.
You deserve a relaxed, meaningful photography experience that captures the beauty of your baby nestled in your arms and surrounded by loved ones within the comfort of your home.
Timing is Everything for Newborn Lifestyle Photography
The ideal time for in-home newborn lifestyle photography sessions is late morning, around 10 AM when natural light is at its best and your baby is likely to be in a good mood. I understand that coordinating with siblings and work schedules can be tricky, but I’ll do my utmost to accommodate the timing that works best for your family.
When I arrive, we'll explore your home to find the perfect spots for capturing stunning images that embrace the natural light. You’ll be surprised at how beautifully the light filters in, even on cloudy days! I’ll also have an “emergency flash” on hand, just in case we need a little extra illumination.

A Stress-Free Experience
Don't worry about tidying up too much. Once we pinpoint the best locations for your photos, we can easily rearrange items if necessary. If you have them, white or solid-colored sheets on your bed can help to keep the focus on your baby during the session.
In my newborn lifestyle photography sessions, I practice a “baby-led” approach, allowing the baby’s needs to guide our time together. If your little one needs feeding or comforting, we’ll pause for that. This fourth trimester is all about bonding, and we’ll capture beautiful moments showcasing the connection between you and your baby, as well as family portraits that include siblings and parents, both together and individually. If the baby is up for some solo shots, I’ll take 10-15 minutes to photograph them naturally, swaddled, dressed in a onesie, or even just in their sweet little skin.

What to Expect from Your Session
As a lifestyle/documentary newborn photographer, I’ll gently guide the session with poses while also capturing those candid, in-between moments that truly tell your family’s story.
What Should We Wear?
Comfort and simplicity are key to your family’s attire! I want you to feel like yourselves in the photos. It’s best to steer clear of neon colors and large logos when possible. If you’re unsure about outfit choices, feel free to send them my way! As for your baby, a simple white onesie and a few swaddles are perfect.

How Long Will the Session Last?
Unlike the lengthy studio sessions you might have heard about, my in-home newborn lifestyle photography sessions typically last about an hour. I aim to be efficient so that I don’t intrude on your family time during these fleeting weeks with your newborn.

When Will You Receive Your Photos?
I understand your eagerness to see your photos, especially with a newborn in the house. I strive for a quick turnaround and will have your images ready within a week.
Thank you for considering Laurie LaPorte Photography for your New Hampshire newborn lifestyle photography session. I’m excited to work with you and capture the joy of your growing family! Please don’t hesitate to ask any questions—I want to ensure this session is as relaxed and smooth as possible.
